Scent guide
Which Christmas scent? Christmas Spice, Cranberry & Orange or Festive Cranberry
Spiced, sweet or in between. How our Christmas scents differ, which one to choose, and the scents for the darker months.
Our Christmas scents sit on a simple scale from spiced to sweet, across candles, diffusers and wax melts. Decide how much spice you want, and the choice is made.
The short answer
- If you want Christmas with all the spice, choose Christmas Spice, our bestselling Christmas scent.
- If you are not sure, or you are buying for someone else, choose Cranberry & Orange.
- If you want Christmas without the spice, choose Festive Cranberry, while stocks last.
- If you already have a wax burner, the Christmas scents come as melt bars too, and Mulled Wine is the sweetest of them.

Cranberry & Orange: the middle ground

Fruit first, with cinnamon warmth and woods beneath. If you like fruity scents but not a strongly spiced Christmas, this is usually the one. It is one of our biggest sellers through the colder months, and customers kept asking for it in summer, so we now stock it all year.
It comes as
- Candle£14.99, or £29.99 for the XL three-wick
- Reed diffuser£15.99, or £31.99 for the large, with refills at £13.99

For those who prefer something sweeter and fruit-led, Festive Cranberry brings bright cranberry notes with no spice at all.

Candle, reed diffuser, room spray or wax melt?
Once you have chosen the scent, choose how you want to live with it.
Candle
A candle is for the evening, as a single-wick (155ml) or an XL three-wick (432ml).
Reed diffuser
A reed diffuser works all day, with no flame. In regular use the standard 95ml lasts up to two months and the large 250ml up to six. The large is the same scent in a bigger bottle: it lasts longer and makes more of a statement on a shelf. When it runs dry, a 120ml refill (£13.99) keeps most of our diffusers going.
Room spray
A room spray is for the moment just before guests arrive.
Wax melts
Wax melts, if you already have a burner. The Christmas scents come as bars at £3.90, for use in a wax burner. See the section below.
The Christmas wax melts
Several of our Christmas scents come as wax melt bars, for anyone who already has a burner. They run on the same spiced-to-sweet idea, and each is £3.90 a bar.
Most spiced
Christmas Spice is the most spiced, with spices and clove at the base keeping it dry rather than sweet.
Just as spiced, warmer finish
Seasons Orange is just as spiced, and the difference is the finish. Orange, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg over vanilla and soft woods, which rounds it off warmer.
Warm, spiced and sweet
Gingerbread is warm, spiced and sweet at once, which puts it in the middle. Anise and cinnamon at the heart, with maple syrup, caramel and vanilla underneath.
The sweetest
Mulled Wine is the sweetest. The fruit carries it rather than the spice, which makes it the gentlest way into the festive scents, and the one that smells like the pan on the hob rather than the tree.
Each is for use in a wax burner.
For the darker months
Not everyone wants a festive scent in every room. These are the scents that suit the darker months, and they sit alongside the festive scents in our Christmas Fragrances collection.

- Vintage Dark Honey is cosy, rich and dry, never sweet. The candle (£14.99, or £29.99 for the XL) is one of our bestsellers through the colder months.
- Fireside is drier and more assertive than Vintage Dark Honey, as a wax melt (£3.75 a bar).
- Santal Ember is warm woods, for a study or a living room, as an XL three-wick candle (£29.99) or a reed diffuser (£15.99).
- Rose & Oud is romantic: candle from £14.99, reed diffuser from £15.99.
- Orchid Noir is deep, and best in a smaller room. The XL three-wick candle is £29.99.
Choosing for someone else
If you do not know their taste, Cranberry & Orange is the middle ground: fruit first, a little warmth and no strong spice. If you are buying for a man, we have yet to meet one who does not like Orchid Noir.
